An alternative approach to employer health coverage
An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) lets an employer reimburse eligible employees for individual health insurance premiums and, depending on the arrangement, other eligible medical expenses. Employees select their own individual coverage.
An employer can set a defined contribution toward coverage, while employees choose from individual plans available where they live. This can be worth reviewing when a group plan’s cost or network is difficult to fit to your workforce.
An ICHRA is not automatically a lower-cost choice. The fit depends on your workforce and the individual coverage available. An affordable ICHRA offer generally prevents eligibility for Marketplace premium tax credits; employees cannot use both an ICHRA and those credits.
Help with eligible healthcare expenses
An employer-funded arrangement that reimburses eligible medical expenses under the plan’s rules. Some HRAs complement a group health plan; ICHRA is a separate type used with individual coverage. Available reimbursements and carryover depend on the arrangement.
A health FSA lets eligible employees set aside money through their employer on a pretax basis for qualified medical expenses. Employers may also contribute. Annual limits and rules for unused funds apply; check your plan’s carryover or grace-period provisions.
PEO solutions for employers
LI Group Benefits offers professional employer organization (PEO) options for companies where the arrangement makes sense. We help you evaluate the fit alongside traditional group benefits.
A PEO combines services such as payroll, employee benefits administration, HR support, and compliance assistance through a co-employment arrangement. Your company continues to direct its day-to-day operations and employees; responsibilities are allocated under the service agreement.
Consider a PEO when HR and payroll are taking too much management time, your team is growing, or you want broader benefits and support without building a larger internal HR department.
We’ll review total costs, benefits and provider networks, service quality, and contract terms against your current setup. Savings depend on your company and the proposal; a PEO is not the best fit for every employer.
